Who is Steve Thoms?
Steve Thoms has always had the drive and practical ambition of being a successful artist. Already an accomplished artist and cartoonist, he started painting seriously in 1981 and became a full time artist in 1992.
Steve paints principally in oils, and has lectured and demonstrated oil and acrylic painting techniques to art societies throughout the North of England. His emotive style of paintings influenced by Edward Hopper and other American impressionists who mastered the technique of capturing bright sunlight and deep shadow to provide an instant vitality to their work.
An artist of natural ability, Steve has developed his own unique way of using relatively simple ideas and scenes to provide stunning oil paintings that encapsulate the true ambience of different countries in a dramatic way.
He has exhibited throughout the country and the U.S.A, where he has had many commissions.
Technical stuff that we get asked a lot...
- Can our tiles be placed into a tiled wall display?
They certainly can. The backing can be removed from the tile by soaking it in warm soapy water, after this is done we recommend leaving the tile to dry thoroughly before using it in your display.
- How thick are the ceramic picture tiles?
All ceramic tiles measure 0.7cm and including the felt back they are 1.1cm
- How do the tiles come packaged?
Each tile comes in fitted foam inside a display box. These are then thoroughly wrapped and protected for shipping.
Please note that if the artist name is stated in the title then these are direct hand painted reproductions of their work and a commission is paid to the artist or licensing house.
